National Unity Day: Universities Unite Through Poetry Event
On the occasion of National Unity Day, Pskov State University and Belarusian-Russian University came together to celebrate a shared cultural legacy through a heartfelt literary event titled “The Soul of the People in the Works of Poets and Writers.”
The event was held via teleconference. It connected the members of the “Russian-Belarusian Union ‘VMESTE’” consortium, a collaboration of 16 institutions fostering academic and cultural exchange. The consortium includes universities from Moscow, St. Petersburg, Brest, Grodno, Vitebsk, and Polotsk.
Opening the session, Olga Serova, First Vice-Rector of Pskov State University, invoked the timeless words of Alexander Pushkin: “My friends, our union is beautiful!” These lines, which inspired the creation of the consortium in 2023, set the tone for an event rooted in unity and shared identity.
Participants recited poetry and reflected on literary works that capture the spirit and cultural depth of both nations. The gathering highlighted not just artistic expression, but also the enduring bond between Russian and Belarusian academic communities.
The event stood as a powerful reminder: language, literature, and education continue to bridge borders.
